Customs & Import Duties

We ship from Japan, so your order crosses an international border. Here is exactly how duties and taxes work.

United States: duties and taxes paid at checkout

For orders to the United States, import duties and taxes are calculated and collected at checkout. We ship Delivered Duty Paid (DDP): we pay the duties to the carrier on your behalf, so you will not be asked to pay anything on delivery.

Other countries

Where duties and taxes are shown at checkout, they are collected there. Otherwise, your destination country's customs authority decides whether any import duty, VAT, GST, or handling fee applies, and the carrier may collect it on delivery. These charges are the recipient's responsibility. Please check your country's import rules before ordering.

Books and other items

Printed books are duty-free in many countries, but local taxes or carrier fees may still apply. Food, homeware, collectibles and other items are more likely to attract duty or tax.
