Theory of Photography: Distance, The Other, and History

This compelling theoretical work, part of the distinguished Chuokoron Sensho series, delves into the profound philosophical dimensions of photography. It rigorously examines the camera's unique ability to mediate distance, its complex role in constructing and representing "the other," and its indelible impact on the recording and interpretation of history. Published by the esteemed Chuokoron-Shinsha, this book offers a deep intellectual inquiry into the essence and societal implications of photographic imagery. Note: The text is entirely in Japanese.
